Holiday Club

We run fun, family friendly and flexible holiday clubs during the school holidays. Open for children aged 3 – 11 years old each holiday club is planned to provide high quality, safe childcare with fun learning and development opportunities.

Our main staff team who run holiday clubs are all qualified to at least Level 3 in Childcare, they’re supported by some of our apprentices.

Holiday Clubs are based in our main playroom and outdoor play area. Here children have access to a wide range of toys, games and activities. Throughout the week we also use the centre’s Sports Hall, Sports Fields, Social Area and new for 2021 our Outdoor Classroom. Added to this we take the children for walks around Shibdon Pond and Nature reserve and usually plan at least one trip out a week to local attractions. We’ve got our own mini-buses so can take the children to local parks, beaches, farms, garden centres, museums and more!

Play Room and Outdoor Play Area – each area is set up daily with different activities, games and toys which are usually themed around a topic. For example, during Easter Holiday Club we do a lot of activities around animals, their babies, farms and of course the easter bunny and easter egg hunts. Each day the children will have access to arts and crafts, imaginary play, small world play, sensory and messy play, construction, jigsaws, puzzles and board games, books and music.

In our Outdoor play area we have a climbing frame, den and den making resources, a large sandpit with lots of construction toys, a camper van, picnic tables, sensory plant corner and lots of outdoor toys and equipment such as balls, bikes, quoits, bean bags and more!

Social Area – In this area children can relax and watch some TV or a film, they can play on computer games or be a bit more active and play air hockey, table football or pool. Arts and crafts, board and card games and puzzles and jigsaws are also set up in this area.

Sports Hall and Sports Fields – we use these areas for running around! We’ve got soft play equipment we can use in the hall and lots of sports equipment for both the hall and the field. We enjoy playing football, tennis, hockey, golf, cricket, rounders and more! We really enjoy team games that teach us how to take turns and share with our friends.

Outdoor Classroom – We’ve got a brilliant new Outdoor Classroom that will be ready for planting some fruit and vegetables in February 2021. We’re using this space to teach children about nature, plants and growing our own fruit and veg. Children can dig, plant and explore in our Outdoor Classroom. We’re hoping to also be able to start using this area for Forest School and will keep you updated on this!

Admission Inquiry

Blaydon Youth and Community Centre became one of our favoured venues during the first lockdown. As a training provider, we could continue to deliver our courses as they are educational and essential. Unfortunately, a lot of the venues we were already using had closed. On the search for more venues, we started contact with Susan Forster (Business Administrator) from Blaydon. She was extremely helpful throughout the whole process. Susan and the staff took great care of our delegates and trainer. The venue was always clean and Covid-19 secure, which was vital as a main concern for our delegates. Our trainers have had nothing but excellent feedback post training here and I cannot thank Susan and the team enough for all their hard work and support.

Due to our excellent experiences and the rapport built, we have decided to continue using this venue in 2021. We would highly recommend.

Thank you for taking good care of us. We really do look forward to working with you in 2021. Massive thank you to Susan for all her support.

We were extremely happy with the booking process; staff could not be more helpful. I wish all venues were as well kept and looked after us as well.

Due to Covid-19, it is very limited to what can be done but it was first rate. Everything I needed was to hand and Sue was on hand if we needed anything else.

The Centre facilities were very clean.

The venue is ideal for what we do, and staff go out of their way to help, the venue has sufficient parking and is very easy to find.

The booking process was easy to do and the staff were always extremely helpful in supporting any of our needs for the rooms we required. The staff were always very welcoming and extremely helpful. Refreshments were available but we did not use these facilities. The Sports Hall is a great space for leading sport sessions.

All the facilities were clean and well maintained. It was great to use a local facility to support our children with their PE lessons.

The children all thoroughly enjoyed their visits to the Sports Hall, and I would highly recommend the Centre for anyone looking to lead sports related activities to children.
